I'm not really too sure what dragged me into this black hole of wanting to use all natural house cleaning products. But I started watching videos and reading about it and I can't stop! The only solution I found is to actually do it. And this is going to be about my start to this journey. My wife hates it so far.
It might have started when I got a set of essential oils for Christmas and I went nuts searching all the things they are good for, you'd be amazed if you aren't already. Turns out when you mix essential oils with other fun things like vinegar, castile soap, baking soda, rubbing alcohol, witch hazel, and water you can make awesome natural products! Things like all-purpose cleaners, dish soap, air freshener, toilet scrub, dusting spray, carpet freshener, and so many other things!
I've learned that you're supposed to keep essential oils in a dark glass bottle/container, they have a ton of them on Amazon I'll link a few. (CLICK HERE FOR THAT LINK) There are a few other things you need to know about essential oils but maybe I'll make a whole other post on the details of that but this one is the most mentioned so it must be very important.
The first and actually the only thing I've tried so far is a DIY for a
Natural All Purpose Cleaner.
You'll Need
1 Spray Bottle
1¾ Cups of Distilled Water
½ Cup of White Distilled Vinegar
30 Drops of Essential Oils
So just mix it all together in your spray bottle give it a little shake before you use it every time. The essential oils I used where 15 drops of Lemon essential oil and 15 drops of Lavander essential oil. I've used this on my counters and even my glass table and my stove and even my other furniture surfaces. It makes it look uber nice and clean. The only downside is the vinegar smell it can be a funny smell. My wife hates it but I have high hopes that she will get over it like I did.
Other mixtures I seen used were
15 Drops of Lemon Essential Oil
15 Drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil
or
10 Drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil
10 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
10 Drops of Wild Orange Essential Oil
I broke the rules and temporarily am using a plastic bottle but I will be changing that soon. I thought it would be okay for a little bit since the essential oil is so diluted from the water and vinegar. I read that it was okay since its diluted but I would assume its way more effective and safe when you use the recommended dark glass bottles. Also, don't go crazy with the measurements because I read alot of different recipes and they all were really similar but not exact. There is no perfect way to do it. A little more or a little less of something won't kill you but try and keep it close to what the recipe says.
When I use up this recipe I'm definitely going to experiment with other different essential oils in the mixture and see what combination I like best, I'll keep you updated. I hope you try this DIY Natural All Purpose Cleaner. I also encourage you to go do your own research on this stuff you might find something that works better for you.
