Homemade Makeup Remover Pads

You guys have to try this DIY it's so fun to make and works so amazing I don't think I'll buy makeup wipes ever again! I tried this for the first time last night, even with only one use, I know that I love it and I'll keep it in my skin routine forever.

You'll need
A Jar
Cotton Pads
8oz Water
30 Drops of Essential Oils
1 Tablespoon of Witch Hazel
3 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil

You just have to mix all the products together in the jar put the lid on give it a little shake. Then you just insert the Cotton pads into the jar and leave them in there. When you are ready to use them to take off your makeup you just pull one or 2 out, they are really soaked in the mixture. I just went ahead and squeezed out the excess. I also tried grabbing a dry unused cotton pad that hasn't been in the mixture and combined it with the soaked one and it made it easier to use. Then just gently rub off your makeup like you would with a makeup wipe. It's safe to use on your eyes but obviously don't get it IN your eye! It should also last about a month then you probably want to make a brand new batch.

I just used any cotton pads I had laying around.

I also used a random jar I think it's a jar that came with artichoke hearts in it but I just washed it really well and its fine to use. You just want a short jar and also that will fit the size of your cotton pads. If its a really tall jar its going to be difficult to dig out the last couple of cotton pads you have at the very bottom.

For water, I just used a water bottle, nothing crazy.

The essential oils I used were 25 Drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil and 5 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil. I meant to do half and half but I just got excited and before you know there were 25 Drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil in my jar, I still wanted some Lavender Essential Oil in there so I added 5 extra Drops. But ideally, you probably want to do 15 Drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil and 15 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil

Then honestly I just eyeballed what a Tablespoon of Witch Hazel would be. You can find the Witch Hazel in the medicine area at like Walmart where they keep the rubbing alcohol, it's super inexpensive and it'll last you forever because you only need a little bit of it.

For the Coconut Oil, you're going to preferably use some Fractionated Coconut Oil. I only had regular Coconut Oil and it worked fine I just warmed it up a bit so it became liquid when I poured it into my jar. But obviously, since it's winter and it's colder after it sat overnight it hardened in some places but it's fine. You can also use Olive Oil instead of Coconut Oil.

When I first made this my jar was filled with the liquid mixture. But as it sat overnight the cotton pads soaked in a ton more product and it appears to have less liquid. That's obviously totally normal.

I loved this DIY so much. You know that gross oily feeling some makeup wipes make you have afterward this didn't have that. But then other makeup wipes kind of have a sting creepy feeling this doesn't have that either. I also really love the scent of the essential oils I used so it smells great. Tea Tree and  Lavender Essential Oil are really good for acne and tons of other things so it's great for your skin.  You can do more research on what essential oils would be ideal for your skin type. Lemon and Frankincense Essential Oils are other good options.

Obviously, it removes your make up super well! I can't believe I almost forgot to mention this! I was wearing a really pretty done up look too with Estee Lauder Foundation. It was my 5 year anniversary so it was a look for a hot date and really extra. I was worried since that foundation is really full coverage and heavier it wasn't going to come off that well but it did! I even went over it with a regular makeup wipe to be sure and it was practically clean, so I didn't have to do that.
