Homemade Carpet Freshener

I tried this DIY really quickly this morning and it worked really good as well. It's so simple you can't resist trying it out.

You'll need

Baking Soda

Essential Oils

A jar with holes

You just have to pour as much baking soda as you think will fit in your jar/container in a bowl. Then you add a few drops of essential oils into the baking soda and mix it with a stick or a spoon whatever you have on hand. Then you pour your mixture into the jar/container, you might need a funnel if you want to be less messy or if your containers opening is smaller.

I used about 15-20 drops of Lemon essential oil. Then I added like 10-15 drops of grapefruit essential oil. I used a cup of baking soda. This is only because I made a little bit to see if I would like it and I did so next time I'll use more baking powder enough to fill my container and just add more essential oils as well. It's impossible to mess this DIY up. Feel free to go crazy and try mixing different essential oils and adding however many drops of essential oil as you want.

For my jar, I used the old container that I had from the store bought carpet powder. You can also use a mason jar and add holes on the lid. You can also use an old parmesan cheese container because usually they have like big holes and obviously you can close it back up when you're done using it. Just clean it really well. They also sell these cool containers that would work perfectly for this DIY. Just search "Powder Shaker" on Amazon. Or click this link for another option that would work great.

So obviously if you don't know how to use it already just sprinkle it all over your carpet and let it sit for however long you want and then vacuum it when you're ready. It'll make your rooms smell so good and fresh depending on what essential oils you choose to use. 

The baking soda is really awesome because it absorbs odors, it'll probably work better than your store bought carpet powder.  Lemon essential oil is antibacterial and antifungal and Grapefruit essential oil is for disinfecting and also it just smells so delicious.
